Global Mission
While the Survivorship for breast cancer patients from North America has improved dramatically over the last three decades, the contrary is now happening in the Lower and Middle-Lower Income Countries (LMICs), as defined and updated by the World Bank, where both the incidence and mortality of breast cancer is rapidly rising. The large majority of the world’s breast cancer patients are now coming from LMICs. Unfortunately, too many of these patients are young and present with already advanced disease as they have no access to the expertise and technology required to benefit from early detection and effective management.
International Delegate & Mini-Fellowship Program
Training Breast Cancer Leaders from Underserved Countries
The VMOF supports select healthcare providers from low-resource countries through Mini-Fellowships at VM Med. These immersive programs offer pro-bono, multidisciplinary breast cancer training and access to international conferences, empowering delegates to return home with life-saving knowledge and tools.
