International / Global Mission & Projects

THE VILLE MARIE ONCOLOGY FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL / GLOBAL MISSION

While the Survivorship for breast cancer patients from North America has improved dramatically over the last three decades, the contrary is now happening in the Lower and Middle-Lower Income Countries (LMICs), as defined and updated by the World Bank, where both the incidence and mortality of breast cancer is rapidly rising. The large majority of the world’s breast cancer patients are now coming from LMICs. Unfortunately, too many of these patients are young and present with already advanced disease as they have no access to the expertise and technology required to benefit from early detection and effective management.

WITHIN THIS SETTING, THE VMOF HAS DEVELOPED ITS 2-PRONGED GLOBAL & INTERNATIONAL MISSION:

  1. Provide funding for VMOF Mini-Fellowships at the VM Breast & Oncology center for International delegates who are breast care providers from Low and Low Income Countries (LMICS)
  2. VMOF International Projects: the VMOF will provide financial and educational support for specific international breast cancer care projects in low and low-middle income countries:

Project 1: SUPPORT THE VMOF INTERNATIONAL DELEGATE & MINI-FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Project 2: SUPPORT THE VMOF-VETTED SPECIFIC INTERNATIONAL PROJECT
